Ken’s workshops are built on the premise that technique alone doesn’t make memorable portraits — direction, connection, and light-reading do. Every session is structured around live shooting and personal critique, not lecture slides.

About Ken

Since the age of eleven, when Ken Weingart made his own black-and-white prints by hand, his fascination with the visual image has never wavered. Today his goal remains what it always was: to photograph the human face, body, and spirit with honesty and precision.
His portraits have been published in Vogue, Rolling Stone, Esquire, and Entertainment Weekly, and his client list spans Academy Award and Grammy-winning artists across film and music.

What experience level is the workshop for?
Workshops are designed for emerging to intermediate photographers who already know the basics and want to improve faster. If you can shoot in manual mode, you’re ready.
Do I need special gear or a specific camera?
No. Come with whatever you’ve got. Ken’s teaching focuses on light, direction, and composition — fundamentals that apply regardless of what body or lens you shoot with.
How many people will be in the workshop?
The group is intentionally small so every attendee gets direct, personal feedback and time with Ken. This is not a large class setting — that’s the entire point.
What will I actually leave with?
Images shot during the day, a clearer portfolio direction, specific critique on your work, and a working understanding of the lighting setups and direction techniques covered.
Is the portfolio review included in all formats?
Portfolio review is included in the Editorial Portrait Intensive and the 1-on-1 session. The standard workshop includes feedback during live shooting, with the option to add a review.
